Workshop on ‘Optical Fibers’ Held



IEEE Student Branch, North South University (NSU) organized a workshop on ‘Operations and Connectivity of Optical Fibers’ on November 24, 2009. The workshop was ennobled by the presence of Prof. SAM Khairul Bashar, Pro- Vice Chancellor, NSU, who was the Chief Guest as well, the current Chairman of IEEE Bangladesh section, Dr. Md. Aynal Haque, Dr. M. A. Matin, Counselor, IEEE Student Branch, NSU.

The four and a half hour long workshop was divided into successive tutorial and industrial sessions. The opening session of motivational speeches was followed by the tutorial session, operated by Dr. Saiful Islam, Associate Professor, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). The highly informative theoretical session left an impression of “A Short Course on Fiber Optics Communication”. With an interactive Q&A segment the tutorial part ended after two hours with the lunch break.

After the half an hour long lunch break the ‘industrial session’ started in full throttle. Hamida Traders assisted this stimulating segment of the workshop.

The workshop reached its end with the congenial appearance of Dr. Abul L Haque, Dean, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, NSU.
