GIGABYTE Honored for Green Computing
GIGABYTE UNITED INC., a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards, was proud to attended the "Climate Savers Computing Initiative Forum" hosted by Intel and the Climate Savers Computing Initiative (CSCI) on April 3rd last. During the event, GIGABYTE was honored for their contribution to green computing. By minimizing electricity waste and reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions, GIGABYTE and the CSCI group hope to reduce global CO2 emissions from computing platforms by 54 million tons per year.
"Green computing is becoming an ever increasingly important issue as global warming continues to escalate," commented Tony Liao, Director of Marketing at GIGABYTE UNITED INC. Developing new ways to help curb energy consumption and lower carbon emissions not only benefits the environment, but hardware venders wanting to succeed in tomorrows markets need to take the development lead today. I want to thank Intel and the CSCI group for giving GIGABYTE the opportunity to participate in such an important endeavor."
With manufacturing facilities and corporate headquarters in Taiwan, GIGABYTE adheres to strict manufacturing and emission regulations, not in place in most other regions of Asia. Going hand-in-hand with ROHS compliance, GIGABYTE complies internationally with WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directives limiting the negative effects of the disposal of electronic equipment. Furthermore, in a conscious effort to reduce waste, GIGABYTE has recently increased the tolerance level for recycling of onboard components on RMA (Return Material Authorization) goods, allocating more resources to repairing damaged components rather than simply replacing them

Acer Releases Aspire Gemstone blue design
When Acer first launched its revolutionary Gemstone design in May 2007, it was aware that such move marked a turning point in its product strategy.
The new look of Acers consumer notebook line brought more than a mere product restyling: it created a whole new identity for Acers award-winning consumer notebook series and opened a new chapter in Acers brand values: the immediacy and the quality of the new notebooks clearly conveyed Acers new approach to developing products that are easy-to-use and dependable through care, innovation and design.
The move proved to be the right one as the first release of the Gemstone design was a clear success the world across. The Gemstone case reinforced the belief that design is the key to opening a dialogue with image-conscious customers as design effectively conceals complex technologies and architectures behind a single button, making the object easier to use and more pleasing on the eye.
The design of the two new notebook lines is characterized by a dominant feature that animates the product: blue, color and light, is the element that identifies the design of this new series, named appropriately Aspire Gemstone blue.
