e-Content & ICT for Development Award 2010

Computer Jagat Report - Ministry of Science and ICT and D.Net jointly launched ‘e-Content and ICT for Development Award 2010’ for the e-content products and ICT initiatives. From now on, it will be an annual event. The contest will be held in 14 categories both for on-line and off-line content products and ICT applications. Reputed experts comprise the Jury for selection of best products from Bangladesh. The best products will be promoted in the national and global media and will be nominated for world contest. The next world contest World Summit Award will be held in 2011.

The objective of the contest is to identify the best ICT initiative and e-content from Bangladesh for promotion globally and definitely encourage new institutions to take new initiatives to accomplish the vision of Digital Bangladesh.

e-Content and ICT for Development Award 2010 launched on 21 January, 2010 at Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), Agargaon, Dhaka. Architect Yeafesh Osman, State Minister, Ministry of Science and ICT for launched the ceremony.

e-Content and ICT for Development Award 2010 nominations are open for individuals and institutions in 14 categories: e-Government & Institutions; e-Health; e-Learning & Education; e-Games; e- Entertainment; e-Culture & Heritage; e-Science & Technology; e-Environment; e-Business & Commerce; e-Enterprise & Livelihood; e-Inclusion & Participation; e-Localisation; e-News; Mobile Content.

Participation timeline : March 20, 2010

Tentative time for Award giving ceremony of e-Content & ICT for Development Award 2010 : April-May, 2010 Date will be fixed later on.

Terms and Conditions

The competition for e-Content and ICT for Development Award 2010 is open to any company, organization and individual originated in Bangladesh and involved in the content industry;

One organization can submit unlimited number of products/applications/ initiatives. In case of multiple submissions by one organization, each product requires a separate registration;

All entries have to be complete products and ready for the market/use/application. No drafts, demonstrations or unfinished prototypes are accepted;

The release year of a project must be 2007, 2008 or 2009;

Producer must have the copyright permission for any pictures, sound, content etc. used fore the production of his application;

The interface of the products can be in Bangla or in English;

One product may be submitted only once. For example, if the product is participating in Jeeon e-Content Award 2010 will not be eligible for participation in 2011;

Incomplete submissions and those not conforming to the contest rules will be disqualified without any further notice. There is no possible legal recourse against such decisions;

Content and product can be submitted by post (non refundable). Postal address for submission is D.Net, 6/8, Humayun Road, Block-B, Mohammadpur, Dhaka-1207;

Along with the completion of the registration, participants in the Award accept the rules, guidelines and Award criteria governing the WORLD SUMMIT AWARD. There is no possible legal recourse against the organizers;

Registration and submission of a product to the evaluation itself does in no way entitle it to any specific benefits. There is no possible legal recourse against the organizers;

Submitters are held responsible for the smooth functioning of their products.

There are two sets of criteria. One is for content and applications; another is for ICT4D filed level Interventions.

Best content Selection Process First round: Submitted nominations will be screened with software. Complete and relevant nominations will be distributed among jury members. Jury members will give their scores on online. All score will be processed using an online blind system and five products will be selected. It is to mention that number of selection can be change based on the quality of submitted products.

Final round

All Jury will vote for the best product, based on the presentation of the top 5 products and select Champion, first runner up and second runner up. To avoid unexpected situation name of jury members will be conceal till award giving ceremony.
